Sea Of Love (Double Sedoka)

The Brown Bag Special

By Christopher Rupley and DarkyBlue

My heart is shattered
when you leave me by myself,
adrift with my devices,
floating in the midst
of a constant sea of change
while waiting for your return

Yet as I lie still,
heart pounding in thoughts of you,
body lifting to your touch,
as fantasy grips
I imagine you are here
sailing on my sea of love

(This is a form of Waka called Sedoka; the only difference here is that this is a double Sedoka, so the count is 5-7-7-5-7-7…5-7-7-5-7-7. It is an ancient form of dialogue between Japanese lovers. DarkyBlue is an awesome writer and I’m honored that she wrote with me. Please take a moment and check out the rest of her work by visiting DarkyBlue).
