ABOUT DARK BLUE

I started this blog because I have been writing poems since I was about ten years old. I have never shown them to anyone as I was ashamed of who I was because of how others treated me and made me feel. They were sort of a diary really of how I was feeling at that time in my life.

I’ve suffered depression since childhood and although there is a lot of darkness in my life, there is also a beautiful light in the form of friends to which I owe my life to and love dearly.

I read them often to remind myself of how far I;ve come since that frightened little child and smile to myself because I never thought that I would make it this far.

    • I think it does. I spent so much time alone as a child so things like poetry, music and drawing took me into a little fantasy world of sunshine and rainbows when my reality was shouting and violence so I’m one of the lucky ones that found this secret little world πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for the follow, and for your generosity of spirit, inviting those in need reach out to you. I can relate to the power of poetry in getting us through; even having had an awesome childhood and a life filled with love, I’ve still battled depression all my life, and writing is often the only thing that keeps me alive.
